Ecom Owners Should You Use Shopify Or Click Funnels? (After nearly $1M in sales here’s what I’ve learned)

I get this question ALL THE TIME so I figured I might as well just make a post about it today and explain the difference…

Alright, let’s get into it
.

WHEN & WHY YOU SHOULD USE CLICK FUNNELS
 
  • Whenever you are selling to cold traffic, use click funnels
  • As you can see in the screenshot, 95% of our sales come through a funnel (see where it says sales by channel > “other”)
  • Funnels are best for cold traffic because you can write long-form sales copy and create a unique offer that is easier to fulfill than Shopify
  • Shopify is not so nice when it comes to members areas, digital goodies, ebooks etc (integral parts of most successful ecom offers)
  • The upsells that you can create in CF are unmatched by Shopify. Yes, Shopify has upsell apps but they are wonky. Nothing like CF’s “one click upsell” functionality
  • Per my last point, its impossible to create “order bumps” in Shopify. At least to my knowledge.
  • CF makes it easier to highlight the best deal for your quantity breaks. The order total is reflected right there on the page
  • 2-Step order forms allow you to collect emails before someone purchases. Shopify adds to many steps into the checkout process by having “add to cart> proceed to checkout> checkout”. CF is simple and straightforward
  • A funnel streamlines the buying process. People can easily get lost on Shopify stores and end up “window shopping” without buying anything
 

WHEN & WHY YOU SHOULD USE SHOPIFY

  • Shopify is best for back-end email promotions to people on your list that have already purchased from you
  • Per my last point, this allows you to advertise more products to known buyers without having to build a funnel for every single product (best for companies with a lot of SKUS)
  • Shopify is better for long-term SEO and organic traffic from what I’ve heard/seen and experienced
  • Having a Shopify store creates a “hub” for all of your products for people to window shop when they already have heard of your company and want to know more

So long story short…


USE BOTH!

Both of them have a time and place but at the end of the day,


CF is absolutely killer when it comes to marketing a physical product/offer to cold traffic.


The conversion rates, average cart value, and overall user experience is best on CF when you are scaling


CF: FRONT END

SHOPIFY: BACK END
